When a manufacturer of military aircraft engine test stands needed to replace the hoists they had been installing on them due to reliability issues, they contacted Allied Power Products, Inc. (APPI) for a suitable replacement.

As the test stands are mobile and can be used in remote locations, the only available power source was 24 volts DC from batteries on the units.  By utilizing a hoist with a high efficiency planetary gear train and a continuous duty motor, APPI was able to meet the customer's performance requirements of 7,000 lbs of lift capacity at 3 feet per minute on a single part of line.

Conveniently, the new hoist from APPI fit the existing hoist mounting location on the stand with only minor modifications.  Several dozen of these hoists from APPI are now in use on the customers' test stands at military installations around the world.
