Allied Power Products, Inc. (APPI) recently supplied this nearly 100 ton capacity recovery winch to a Wyoming coal company for pulling and positioning heavy equipment in their open pit mines.

Equipped with a 30 hp, 460 volt 3-phase AC motor and high efficiency planetary gears, the winch provides a maximum of 199,000 pounds of line pull with line speeds of up to 5 feet per minute on the first layer of wire rope on the drum.  The drum was sized to meet the customer required capacity of 1,000 feet of 1 1/2" diameter wire rope.

A fabricated steel frame and fully sealed construction maximize strength and reliability and help ensure minimal maintenance.  As the only exposed moving part is the drum, the winch is well suited for work in harsh environments.  

A Variable Frequency Drive was supplied with this unit to limit torque and prevent overloads while providing the ability to precisely control line speed while positioning extremely large loads. A spring-applied load holding brake is electrically released when the motor is energized.
